Well you could start by getting yourself a good sized sketch book, with acid free paper. Then you can experiment using different mediums, such as acrylic paint, water colours, pencil, charcoal etc.
I remember when I started, I was made to draw a bowl of fruit (not very origanl) lol but it’s good to start with some life drawing.
You could go outside in your yard and sketch a few flowers, plants, insects and shade them with your pencil, or use some water colour pencils (which are my fave

Oh & you can also purchase specific paper and canvas for the acrylics, water colour, charcoal etc. but I suppose that’s after you get started.
