MarthaF… your name is awesome, my reply button isn’t working… I am actually trying to get a terrarium going. Has anyone had any luck yet? I can’t find a good source for the little plants :(

    :) Your name is awesome!

I actually find it a shame that you can’t just realize we are all on the same team. I don’t want to make an enemy of you, I would rather be making friends in the spirit of conservation and good stewardship of our lovely Earth. And come on, don’t you think it’s just a little cool, that our peeps at Threadbanger, are using “The Man” as a tool for eco-revolution? lol, I do. Can’t we just “shake hands” like adults and agree to disagree?

  5. Ehsona on February 17, 2009 at 8:15 am

Clock, I’m not even sure who you are replying to. What motivated me to comment, was not you personally, but your hypocritical attack on good people. You can’t live a modern life without being entangled in large corporations. As to my reasoning, I don’t even have to defend that. I like to think for myself, I don’t need to torrent anything, or look to others for my beliefs or ideals.

I understand why you find the microsoft sponsorship as fine, I respect your decision for yourself.

Have you seen Century of the Self? Did we already go through that?

I think they could have done something really clever to support these vids instead of going with the status quo, and hope that some day they choose to.

Other than that, there really is no point in arguing with me about it. This was months ago and I’m a stubborn *******.

  7. ChuckHitler on February 23, 2009 at 2:45 am

Well think of it this way, they’re just using those companies to get the DIY movement up on top. Eventually those sponsorships will be pointless becuase people won’t be pay attention to them anymore.

Not that it matters cause most of their funding comes from companies that have little or nothing to do with DIY, as far as clothes and furniture.

I mean if they were being funded by GAP or OLD NAVY I would’ve been like “WHAT THE ****?!”

  8. ChuckHitler on February 25, 2009 at 6:12 am

That’s what I meant. I didn’t mean they funding was completely okay, but I also didn’t mean to cut funding completely.

Like I said, they’re being funded by MIcrosodt, not fucking Wal*Mart. Wal*Mart would’ve been totally hypocritical.

And you said before you didn’t like funding by big coroporations why are you saying funding is okay now? If you’re okaying with funding by little or irrelevant corporations then why didn’t you say something when I brought it up?

  9. ChuckHitler on February 27, 2009 at 1:48 pm

Umm…from what you said I thought you were replying to Clockworkforest, but it appeared in my comment replies so I’m asking anyway.

  10. MarthaFuckingStewart on March 1, 2009 at 1:16 am

    You are awesome Ehsona!

  11. MarthaFuckingStewart on March 4, 2009 at 11:27 am

Then YOU fund the fucking show. How do you think small companies do anything? In this recession, sorry,t he fact is you have to have a sponsor.

  12. Clockworkforest on March 5, 2009 at 6:39 pm

Ehsona, self-righteous indignation? Looks more like what motivated your comment to me.

Your point and example are severely lacking in reason and motivated by group think, I have ethics I follow, it’s a personal choice. I’m not an extremist against corporations. Get over it.

IMO they could have found a more appropriate way to fund these videos. I stand by that, you go ahead and be you and I will be me.

Try and torrent a copy of information dystopia by ractalfece.

  13. Ehsona on March 6, 2009 at 12:24 pm

Unless you’re willing to personally fund these projects; you have no place criticizing someone. Do you drive a car? I bet it wasn’t made by sheer force of self-righteous indignation! I wager it was made by– A LARGE CORPORATION!!! LOL: “glass houses” man, it’s easy to look down on others, not so easy to hold yourself to those same unreasonable standards, is it? Lighten up, if you want to make a difference, Do It Yourself! (pun intended!) Your intentions seem genuine, just misplaced.

ChuckHitler, “To thine own self be true, and it must follow, as the night the day, thou can not then be false to any man.” – Shakespeare(Hamlet)

  15. ChuckHitler on March 12, 2009 at 3:26 am

Well, the way I see it, as long as theyre not accepting it from…like mega-clothe brand. Cause sometimes, they dont even have commercials. and when they do, its a commercial for another website/ another youtube channel/ something irrelevant to DIY (as far as clothes &furniture) like microsoft.

altough, it is possible to make your own computer.

but anyway, I didn’t think it was a big deal, but i know what you mean. i’m just happy they’re spreading with word about DIY.

  16. ChuckHitler on March 14, 2009 at 2:06 am

    lol they do.

  17. 3shalicious on March 15, 2009 at 4:34 am

those jars look like condoms lol!

  18. Clockworkforest on March 17, 2009 at 7:07 pm

    ChuckHitler,

I’m sorry, but I don’t believe that accepting funding from large corporations is helpful to the DIY movement.
I think finding another way would be more appropriate (and completely realistic).
I’m not demonizing them, I just have my morals that I stick to (it is a personal choice, if people have a problem with that it is just the attempt to reduce dissonance, I’m not telling everyone to unsub or anything).

  19. ChuckHitler on March 18, 2009 at 12:33 pm

really? i didnt know that. thats awesome.

  20. ChuckHitler on March 20, 2009 at 8:05 pm

    maybe shes just actually tired.

  21. ChuckHitler on March 22, 2009 at 4:48 pm

    they need funding.

its not cheap or fast to make videos and take time out of your day to

    do a DIY project,
    record the event,
record your voice telling the instructions, edit the video.

and sometimes they have travelled, going to convenvtions or visitng viewers or other DIY people.

oh, and keeping up with the site, and forum.

without the funding money the vids wouldnt be as cool or helpful and maybe not here at all. as well as the site/forum.

  22. ChuckHitler on March 24, 2009 at 1:07 pm

    you mean in the tirraniums?

yeah that would look pretty cool.

    but in the dome ones.
