It’s worth it if you have the money and the ability. It wont just connect to a VGA/DVI directly from the lcd. And, you cant re-wire it either. The lcd on a laptop, first has to connect to the motherboard via a flat data cable. The video doesnt work direct, it has to be processed. The only way you can control the video and have the right connections is to buy a ‘video controller.’ It’s a small board which has the correct connections. Oh and it has to be one compatible with your lcd model.

I wouldn’t want to use an old classroom projector tho :-( you can build one similar to this, and make it’s own box, and have it look like a newer projector, not bashing the video tho, this is very informative, and I’m sure is great info for a lot of people!

    5 Stars!

Isn’t it the same as it was? Like it connects to a PC via VGA/DVI? Using the same cables like when it was a normal lcd that is… I never tried this so i’m just guessing. There it is another pain in the *** it seems: rewiring everything! However if someday I get the material needed i’m willing to try it and that’s for sure. It’s worth the trouble imHo. Even tho the mess. Just to see it work it’s worthy(spell?).

I don’t really know but it seems that it is needed a strong light to reach the wall. I guess a CRT display (lighting) doesn’t do the job if that’s what you meant.

can use an RF modulator (or something) to convert from VGA to composite – or whatever u use

  23. Wizardanim on February 27, 2009 at 9:09 am

Buy a used one somewhere – it should work. Projector bulbs are 100′s of dollars, these ones are 10′s … saves money in the long run – plus good projectors are 500-600+ even LCDs at retail stores are 100-250
