I get distracted easily when I’m doing my homework. Does anyone have any tips that might help me stay focused and on track? Also, what are some tips for studying?

Turn off the television. Go into a room that keeps isolated and in complete silence.

it is better to study 30mins at a time, so take a break for 30mins and come bak and study for 30mins. plus this has a better retention rate.

Take a break. Think critically. Try to think of questions and look for the answer as you read. Make sure that you are understanding what you are reading or studying. Be actively involved. Maybe set a goal. You could write an exam if you are studying. Then take the exam and correct it. Make the questions really difficult.

Sure… Try one or more of the below:

    1. Go to a room (pref. @ a library) where the only “distractions” you have are your books.

    2. Keep short/reasonable goals. For example: “I will distract myself after 20 minutes. But to compensate for that, I will finish these 3 problems first in these 20 minutes).
As long as the goal is short and reasonable (i.e, you CAN reach that goal.. it is not that difficult to reach), you’ll be ok. Keep increasing the expectations gradually as you follow this method.

    3. Do not listen to music/watch tv when you are working on your homework (obviously)

    Hope this helps.

Erm im doing a psychology degree at the moment and we carried out a study into concentration and we found that most people can only concentrate for about 20mins at a time so maybe you could try 20mins homework then have a small break then another 20 mins ,

set your self a goal of doing 20mins or so many words , i feel this helps me i say to myself after youve done 100 words watch tv lol

You need to work out which situation you work best in , i find i need to work alone in a quite room with no sound as tv and music distracts me.

The above answers are all great and hit on all the key points of good study habits. I would just like to add one more important but often overlooked point- don’t be afraid to ask for help! I don’t know what level you’re at, but people love to help, whether it’s your teacher, parents or friends- or all of the above. Set up a ‘homework plan’ with someone. (Just don’t enlist a friend who is going to be more of a distraction- you need someone reliable) If you can, get in a routine of doing it at the same time same place everyday, the best of luck to you!
