Most painters will tell you that surface preparation is the key to a good paint job--the better the prep, the better the paint job. Make sure that the surfaces are clean and that they will accept the paint you've chosen. Make sure you fill holes and cracks with lightweight spackling compound. Here's a basic article about painting a room, along with a list of materials and tools you might need (you won't need all of them; just choose the ones that suit the kind of work you'll be doing) :

Really most of it is personal preferance. You can find good paint anywhere Valspar is great.Ace has good paint.Just avoid the cheaper contractor labels ones and glidden interior.Dont have to get the benjamin moore of paints but even behr is decent.Me personally i have / would use agian a semi gloss because it is easier to clean and it reflects light so if you have limited light it will help.As far as the color scheme choice just take lighting conditions into effect. With those dark colors it will greatly darken the room.Add more lighting and an light accent wall or light area rug could help out.Just with those deep colors priming would be a good idea. This will avoid the color bleeding through and multiple coats of paint needed be to used. Good luck

Choose paint color and techniques that unify your existing furnishings and enhance the decorating look you enjoy. Latex paint provides a fairly tough finish and, in conjunction with varnish, can be used for a surprising range of applications. They are safe to work with, usually odorless, and quick to dry.

Eggshell is great. Make sure you tape everything off. Put drop cloths down in case you spill and start at the top and work your way down. Also if you're using a textured brush, I'd start with a regular brush near the defecate areas, doors, outlets, etc. - that way after you go over with the textured brush, it won't look like an afterthought.

Get eggshell paint, I think that's what its called anyways. Get whatever brand you want, I get Dutchboy. Then get what colors you want and however much you'll need. Then take tape and tape the wood door frames where it meets the wall so you don't paint that. Be careful when painting higher up near the ceiling so you don't get any on it. Then if you want to do cool designs use the tape again so you paint the right areas. Oh and tape off all electric sockets so you dont paint them either. Have fun! =]
