To be safe they must be strong, durable and devoid of harmful chemicals.     In recent years, due to toxic-toy imports from China, there have been mass product recalls by well established retailers in the US and the UK. For instance, in November 2007, Mattel, the manufacturer of Hot Wheels cars and Barbie dolls, had to recall nearly a million products that were contaminated by lead paint.
